Default Jig Heads

Based on my one outing, the tides and currents here in NC are certainly greater than my experiences down in Florida, plus the terrain is different. When using jigs I have used 1/16 oz and 1/4 oz for the most part. That has always done the trick. But that seems a little lite for here. What do you use most often, and what about color? I typically use red, unpainted or copper. I noticed in Florida the further up the east coast you went, the more popular colors like chartruese and white became for jig heads. And does anyone use black? I prefer either Mission Fishin Jig Heads or DOA, but curious as to what others use and why. Thanks.
