Default Never kayaked got a few questions

I grew up down in Jax, FL and moved to Raleigh about 10 years ago. Me and a good friend always fished out of a Skiff up in the creeks down there for Reds, Flounder, etc. and IMO is the best fishing out there. I am finally getting some free time and looking to get back to it, and stumbled across kayak fishing. Looks great, fun, and a good way to be as close to the action/ nature as it gets.

It looks and sounds nice and easy but I've paddled boats before and I'm sure it's not as easy as it looks. Have most of you guys been kayaking for a while or can you pretty much get in and go?

How about taking one of my sons, he is 6 and I am thinking maybe a boat might be the better option for both of us going.

We are going to Topsail for the week in June and are going to take a kayak tour to get an idea but thought I would join up and see what you guys say. Thanks,

Jimmy
