Nice trout from Queen's Creek Hit the dirt ramp at Queen's Creek yesterday morning at 5:00 a.m., throwing the cast net and bagged about 3 dozen shrimp for bait. Still can't find the "finger" mullet, though plenty of larger mullet (10-12") around.
Second cast of the day (about 5:30 a.m.) and I landed my first keeper flounder under the new size ruling...this one about 16-1/2". Went another 2 or 3 hours with only a couple of nice hits, and an 8" redfish that took a live shrimp on popping cork.
Went deeper into the creek towards the coast and landed another nice flounder, this one about 17". He literally inhaled a Gulp Jerk Shad (later retrieved during the filet process).
Finally turned the bend and started back towards the ramp (about 10:30 a.m.) and nailed my first speckled trout of this year, a nice 22-1/2" heavy hitter. She also took the Jerk Shad presented with a high bounce off the bottom. What an awesome fight she put up!
Anyway, the water was beautiful, the weather was hot, and dinner was...on the Queen.
Enjoy the photos. Looking forward to meeting those who are coming out to the upcoming Meet and Greet.
Have a great week!
Nathan
