Prepare kayak for salt water

My family will be taking a trip to the Outer Banks this summer and i want to take my kayak along. I have never had it in salt water before. We are going to be on the sound so i thought it would be a great time to try it out, and just let the family play around on also. What exactly would you guys recommend i do to take care of the kayak in the salt water? Thanks so much!!
