Got out early this morning hoping to beat the holiday rush. It took a little while to zero in on the fish, but when I did, it was pretty good. I went to pick out a buzz bait and I remembered the old adage: fish any color you like, as long as it's white. Truer words have never been spoken. On my first cast a small bass hit it, but it jumped and threw the hook. It was just as well, because a bigger bass took it before I could finish the retrieve! That one was 16." I fished for a while around the edges of a small cove, caught several small fish. Pitched the bait into a laydown and hooked a real nice 18 incher. I tried to take a picture of that one, but in the process I dropped the fish and my hemostat pliers in the drink and darn near lost the camera as well! The bite ran out shortly after that and aside from a couple of catfish and a few more small bass, that was it. I called it a day at 10am. By the way, in honor of Independence Day, I gave the fish their liberty (even though they looked real tasty) Happy Fouth of July!!
