Unhappy Jordan 8-19-07

Met up with a friend and we took his jon boat (Sea Ark 1652 with 40 Merc) over to Jordan. Neither of us had tried it before, but were willing to try somewhere other than Falls or Kerr.

Left Farrington before 9:00, just kind of cruised for a bit before trying the sunken trees between Farrington and the 64 bridge. Marked a few fish, but none wanted what we had. Move on to the rip rap to the west of the 64 bridge, marked a lot of fish from the rip rap out 100 feet or so. Could not get them to take a lure, but caught a small catfish (bullhead) on a nightcrawler. Navigated under the bridge, which was interesting because it was half blocked with boats fishing there, and ran down the channel to one of the coves on the left. Could not even find a mark in anything less than 18' of water. Started back toward the ramp and hit a few more coves on the west on our way back. Caught a small bluegill in 2' of water.

Ramp follies had started when we got back there a little after noon, will be glad when Fall and Winter come and the crowd dies off.

Anyway, first impression was not wonderful. Seemed almost as crowded as Falls, very shallow (doubt we found any water over 30' while we were out), and a lot smaller feeling than Kerr. May try again in the fall, as the shallow flats we saw everywhere looked like great bedding areas for panfish. Since Kerr is just as far away for us, will continue to concentrate our efforts up there, at least until I settle on something to use in the electric only areas around here.
