Stripers, crappie, cats, etc. on Jordan 6-24,25-08
Headed down to Jordan Lake Tuesday evening for a nightstalk. Got down there and set up about 9:15pm with 10 dozen (plus a few extra ) minnows. Finished them off by 1:30. Caught several crappie and way more white perch than I care to. Zachary caught his largest bass ever, and we pulled in a few cats as well. As we were running low on minnows we kept several white perch to fillet and use for catfish bait. Catfished from 1:30am till time to catch some shad. Biggest cat was around 5-6lbs. with several 1-2lbrs. in the mix. Kept 4 cats total for the evening and 3 crappie that were 10-11 inches. I guess we should've moved to locate the crappie, but everyone that came by that were "moving" around said they weren't cathing much either. Caught shad and put all the crappie stuff in the truck about daylight and headed out for stripers. With gas prices what they are, we try to pull 2 trips out of 1 when we go to Jordan. Started at Ebeneezer beach and had several pulls and jerks, but no hook ups. Hard for me to leave biting fish so we tracked back on the same line and kept getting bites. About the
3rd pass we finally hooked up and landed an 18"er. Stayed in the same area 'till about 9:45 and caught three more 22"-25" and lost several others, one to the trolling motor . Had probably 20 bites that were short or just not hooked up good and let go when we picked up the rod. Had a good morning fishing and a wore out Zach (see pic below) at the end of the morning. Got really hot by 10:45 so we called it a day and headed home. Got this boat in April and I absolutely love it. It is an older boat ('88), but runs good and is everything I need in a boat. 18' Center Consoel Bay Hawk. Added an Eagle GPS/Sonar unit and a remote controled trolling motor. For father's day my "kids" got me the small remote that is the size of a key chain----AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! I love these two additions. Really made fishing and following your routes a lot easier. Hope you enjoy the pics and sorry for the long post, but we just had a great time and wanted to share!!!
