Default Jordan Lake, Bells Church PFA

Scouted out the local PFA this morning, came away with bupkis. Except for a pair of stinky surgical gloves, thanks to the god-awful catfish bait DragonBreath set me up with. Better the gloves than my hands, of course.

I was out there for a short hour, 9:30-10:30-ish. The sky was cloudy but then cleared. Air temp was 39 when I started, mid-40's when I finished. No idea about the water temp. The water appeared to be the normal color of brown -- not sure how that's usually classified. Used a bottom rig and stinky catfish bait on #1/0 hooks. Caught about five underwater obstacles, but all but two got away. (I only had to cut my line twice.)

The setup there at Bells Church is very nice, IMHO. Plenty of parking and a T-dock with built-in benches. It's right beside the bridge, so when conditions are right, there's plenty of nearby rocky structure. Lots of area for lots of folks to fish in lots of directions.

I was surprised not to find a trash container of any kind. Well, except for the grocery sacks scattered around. I guess I'll need to bring a 5-gal bucket for trash next time. (There were four or five propane canisters -- I guess folks bring mantle lanterns for nighttime fishing?)

I also took a quick recon drive to the other two PFA's on Jordan. Neither of them have docks, just parking areas and water access. They both had beaches today -- since the water was so low. The one south of 64 also has a public boat ramp. Met a couple of guys launching a canoe in search of Bambi. (The canoe sure did look funny with the tree stand stickin' up like that. Jus'kiddin, it was folded in the back.)

Anyhow -- now I guess I need to either figure out how to land a rock, or how to keep 'em from chasing catfish bait.

Lefty
