Well, I did say I'd be happy to take anything to get the skunk off. Started off the morning with two trolling passes by Satterwhite Marina and Satterwhite point. Marked plenty of fish in the area, but they were not interested in my four trolled lures (Rap DT 16 on 3-way with white inline spinner, Clarkspoon with twister tail, and small Storm Shad). Changed up to two large Mepps spinners on the planers, still no takers.

Put up the trolling gear, shut off the main engine, and dropped the rip tide. Set out two rods with 2 oz egg sinkers with 3' mono leaders and circle hooks baited up with shrimp. Kept the other rod out with first a redfin and then a gold spoon plug. Not a hit on the lures. Picked up the first fish near the bouys outside the marina. Medium sized bullhead. Had been on the hook a while, I just thought the sinker was bottom bouncing. Got him aboard and released.

Headed into Anderson creek but the wind was messing with my slow troll, made it almost to the water plant before I turned back around. Final fish hit in Anderson creek while heading back towards Satterwhite. Channel cat on one of the shrimp. He was no big monster, maybe 14"-15" or so, but made much more of an impression than the bullhead. Got him in and released as well. Finally maintained the slow troll back to the area of the power lines and brought everything in. Too much boat traffic in there.

So, the boat has caught a couple small cats, but at least it was not a skunk. Will actually go somewhere else on the lake with less wakeboarders and give the same process another shot, maybe adding some large minnows or cut bait to the presentation.
