Stem, NC I took Linesider2 to another one of my farm ponds Sunday. This one is located in Stem and is about 6 acres. What made this trip so good was that we took the flyrods and planned to stick with that for most of the day. We got into a little of everything. We caught tons of bream, bluegill, red breast and bass on the fly. At the end of the day we decided to drift along the dam and toss out a worm on spinning gear. The water is that dark stained water like you find closer to the coast so we went with the bubblegum trick worms. We were casting along the weed line as we drifted and caught at least a dozen bass each inside of 45 minutes. This is a great pond but WAY overpopulated with fish. All of the fish are stunted. The owner has asked me to please keep them but a lot are to small to eat. I hate to do it but I may just have to toss them to the bank for the raccoons. Despite the lack of size in the fish it was still a lot of fun to catch'em on the fly. |
