Went out to the stream on sunday with high hopes and good people. The forecast called for light and variable winds, w/ 2-4 foot seas. Boy they were wrong. The further we went out the worse it got. Made it to the same ole by 8:00 and started to set out the spread. The spread consisted of blue/white islanders, also pink/white, black/red, and green yellow. After about 2 hours of nothing the long line went. Picked it up and passed it off. 1st fish about 15lb king. Thought "great all this way for kings"

. Not 10 min. later 3rd long went off and it was a nice cow. Picked up the rod and passed it off to my little bro. He fights the fish up to the boat, a respectable 15lbs but not what I was looking for, and I noticed 2 behind it. Friend chris plants the gaff while I pitch out a top water plug on a light trevala rod and BAM the other one slams it

. Fish on, and another pass of. Chris fights that fish, another 15lbs, while I have another trevala rod ready. I spot another dolphin about 20 foot back and begin casting. Bam one more on

, and another pass of to little bro. Great have 3 dolphin and a king in the boat in not time. Get the fish in the box and reset the spread. Another 30 min later watch another dolphin crash the spread, and hook up, get it to the boat and redeploy. Picked at them all day long when the planer rod went off. Thought WAHOO but got cut off, then the water on the long line exploded and the reel started to scream in pain. I knew WAHOO(hoped it was the same one so I could get my islander back

). Pulled it down and passed off to chris who brought a pretty 35lb fish to the boat but no islander

. Started to get late in the day and we were still picking off dolphin but nothing that amused me when the outrigger snapped. Gave it a little drop back and Fish on big bull. That was what I was looking for, Watched him dance and take out line, and then passed it off to little bro again. After a long fight I planted the gaff and dropped him in the box

. Ended the day with a little bottom fishing out there and brought in 1 10lb red, and a beautiful queen trigger. Packed the box with more ice and headed for the hill. Hit the docks at 8:45 which made for a very very long day. Total catch for the day 11 dolphin, 1 king,1 wahoo, 1 red grouper, and 1 queen trigger. It wasn't a bad day, a little rougher than anticipated, and not as many big fish as I would have liked to see. I really wanted to hook up with a bill fish or a straggler yellow fin, but thats going to have to wait. Stream fishing has cooled off due to those hot water temps, so don't waste your time. Start looking for dolphin at around the 85-100 foot mark with wahoo hanging around the 150-200' area. The fish are scattered so your going to have to put your time in to come in with a decent catch. had a good time and filled my little bro's camera with picks. Once he e-mails me I will figure out how to post them. Tuesday AL, joey and I are going back on the hunt. We will see how it goes, but no more long trips for me for a while, getting too old for that

. Till next time, catch em, cut em, and eat em.
