| Just a quick report about this weekend.... floated four guests on Saturday and things started out a bit slow. So much rain they couldn't see our popper was my best guess for the slow start. But once the clouds cleared things were getting better by the minute. I'm really not sure how many they caught I would say about 40-50 between the two boats, we missed many and lost a few good ones close to the boat. Never even tried underwater flies, this iss popper time here in NC!! The river looked good enought to make us come back on Sunday. Did a short float Sunday, had my wife with me and my buddies Chad and Jeremy in the other boat. I know one thing for sure, Chad and Jeremy wore some fish out and all on top water poppers. I know they had 20 each easily by the half way point. Saw a few others enjoying the river on a Memorial Day Weekend (THANKS TO ALL THAT HAVE SERVED AND ARE STILL SERVING THIS GREAT NATION!!!) After moving past the waders the fishing really started picking up. After teaching my wife to row some in the flat water I got to catch a few myself, biggest one going around 16-17". Then I heard Chad yelling, looked back and his rod was bent nearly double!!! BIG FISH he yells. After 10 minutes or so he lands the pig and we weight it n my boga grips... just over the 4-1/4# nearly 4-1/2 # didn't measure it but I would guess in the mid 20's for length. He took a pic on his cell and we're trying to get it uploaded now. I'll post it if I can get it to come in. After that the day was pretty much over, time to row to the takeout and head home. Of course Chad had the biggest smile but we were all smiling on the way home.
