Default Bait Fish in Lake Norman

Does anyone know where on Lake Norman one might use a cast net to catch shad this time of year?
I am planning on trying out the striper fishing again this weekend and my past few trips to Hickory have me spoiled to catching my own live bait. The only problem is I'm not sure where to find 'em in Norman and it's just too big to try to hunt 'em down.
Thanks in advance,

Dave
