Default Lake Gaston Bluegills

Just got home from Gaston with about 30 big bluegills.Caught about 100 just kept the big ones.Would have caught more but ran out of crickets.I have never seen coves so full of bream beds.We anchored just outside of one area that had beds for 300 or 400 feet along the bank.I noticed that the beds were at grassy banks,no tree lined banks. Is this normal.
