Today was an INCREDIBLE day! During the last hours of daylight, I hit the pond beside the road over at Lanvale Trace on Lanvale Rd.. I was fishing a dark purple ribbed curlytail worm on a crappy old jig I had laying around. The small pond was producing 1-2lb Crappy regularly and the largest was nearing 3. It grew dark so I tried the pond with the fountain in it. I cast and got a bird's nest. Untangling it, it suddenly unspooled itself. Immediately I set the reel in motion and hooked a bass that could only be described as epic in size. I got it close to the shore, after 4 jumps it threw the hook, only to attack my worm the very next cast. I landed him and went to pick him up only for the hook to fall out! I was infuriated. I later found out he bent it. After about another hour, he hit again! I landed him and measured him after a 2 minute fight.
A fish I thought was 17-19 inches measured in at 26 and a half inches! From the looks of his belly he was eating well too. Due to lighting I didn't get a pic of him with my camera. The pics are my jig I used.
