I had the day off today and decided to take the boys perch fishing at a hidden lake that gets very little pressure due to it's location. We loaded up the ultra-lights and dug some worms below the spring and headed out with a hand full of hooks and splitshot. Once we reached the secret lake perched on the top of the mountain we noticed alot of topwater activity in the small cove where we park. I got out of the truck and went to investigate. I could not believe what I saw, 7 largemout bass with the smallest one being over 8lbs the largest one was the biggest bass I have ever seen in my life, he had to go atleast 15 lbs. They had corraled atleast 150 trout in the shallows of the cove. The big bass had a trout tail sticking out of his mouth, the trouts tail was atleast 4 inches wide, this had to be a 12 to 14 in trout that big boy was trying to swallow.
So there we were looking at 7 trophy bass and all we had was ulra-light rods, size 8 hooks and two cups of redworms

But Matthew and Israel were very intrested in the 150 plus trout that had been herded into 2 to 3 foot of water.
The trout must have been held hostage there for days they were starving to death. The boys were catching a fish on every cast, most swallowing the hook. Daddy was going crazy trying to figure out how to catch a monster largemout on a size 8 hook.
We must have caught and released 60 to 80 trout and had 20 that swallowed the hook. We caught 4 or 5 bluegills and 1 perch.
Our perch trip took a turn for the better, I'm thinking I want get much sleep tonight but I bet I'll be on the lake in the morning bright and early, ARMED WITH HEAVY TACKLE! I didn't take the camera to the lake today but I will tomorrow. The lake is cristal clear, if I can't catch one of the brute bass, I take a few photos to prove, all fishermen are not liars.
