Default Info on surf fishing in NC

I just stumbled across your site while looking for info on surf fishing in N.C. I live in Indiana and come to your great state every year for vacation. I tried surf fishing for the first time a couple years ago and i am now officially hooked. The first time out I caught what i was later told to be a red drum. It didn't matter to me, I was just happy to catch anything. After that it seemed all I was getting were little black tip sand sharks. Fun at first, but now just a pain. Any advice on what I could do to help my chances on something different and hopefully a little bigger.
Thanks, EW
