Default Surf Fishing Topsail

Ok, anyone here have any perspective on the best Wind direction to fish Topsail.....or North Topsail. Reason I ask, I recall going a couple of times last year and the wind was in my face, so must have been blowing out of the SE I think. The water clarity was terrible, and the seaweed was bad as well, you could see the grass and stuff hanging from the line in the water. Did'nt know if anyone knew for sure when there was a better time to fish. With gas prices being what they are, I hate to drive down 2 hours and find the same conditions again, so I figure if I keep an eye on the weather conditions I might can alleviate some of that......... Thanks for any info on this!!!!
