Cape Fear Trip

Britton and I went out on the river for a few cats a hopefully some bass. Went up river to the split at the Black River. It looks great but we didn't get anything. I got a hit on the frog on my first cast and that was it. I did get a decent gar on a beetle spin while I was trying to catch bream for bait! Pretty fun on an ultralight. We ended up getting 4 cats 1 bluegill and a gar. No bass at all. All the cats came on eel. Tried some frozen shad but had no takers. Would have used the bluegill but he had other plans and ended up back in the water. It was a pretty decent day other than the skunking by the bass but it was our first shot, we'll get em' next time.
