Cliffs of the Neuse State Park

Has anybody fished this area? My buddy lives in Goldsboro and has been begging me to take him fishing around that area. I've never even been to that park. If you have fished there, what did you catch (I figure some American Shad should still be there, but the park ranger told him lm & sm bass, catfish, and shad where being caught), what bait, and which areas did you concentrate on. Btw, I don't have a boat, so its basically bank fishing only. Thanks for the help in advance!
