Default great time on the laurel

fished the stackhouse section of the french broad monday and did o.k. what was so great about the trip was that we turned up to the mouth of the laurel river and immediately got into some nice smallies. fish up to 1-1 1/2 lb. nothing huge, just fun fish. after fishing past a couple of rapids we got into a load of trout , most were 12-14 inches , stockers, but they had been in the river a while, decent colors and fins too. all this and never seeing another soul. while walking back to the truck we noticed a guy with a flathead of about 15 pounds . he had caught it while fishing for channel cats on a little trout rod. that had to have been a ride. only disturbing thing was that he had a stringer of freshwater drum, didn't ask if he was going to eat them, and really didn't want to know the answer.
