My Grandaughters First Fishin Trip On The Boat

hey ya'll
been abit for me since my last report and after some bad putor problems and life cycles im back and ready to post a report
3-22-08 had the pleasure of taking my grandaughter fishing with me and her dad for the first time on the boat wasnt really sure what to take her for but i wanted it to be something she would remember so we went fresh water fishing for bowfin and gar.
this is my girl just before we launched with a half baked smile



she was all set in her saftey vest and raring to go so away we went in search of some fine fighting fish for her to play with,i have 5 grandkids by this son and had had 2 of the 3 girls out for drum already now it was hollies turn.
our bait of choice once again was frozen finger mullets only this time a little fresher than the winter ones and #3 alaskan hooks for my son and trebles for me :thumbsupthree: better in my books for a little girl to fight a fish of this class with!!!
it didnt take long for our first fish to take hold of the bait long enough for me to set the hook and hand it off to hollie who fought this little gar all the way in by herself makin me one proud pappap



the next fish went to her dad and was a beast of a bowfin with a WIEGHT of 7.15 ounces and 27 inches long,bowfin are not a sought after fish here but those who dont target them dont know what they are missing,they are an awesome fighter and very acrobatic nothing fights harder than these fish in fresh waters here in the south in my books.



then it was my turn with this nice size long nose gar



then hollies turn again well sorta she had help from dad to lond this brute her biggest gar of the day


and then another first for her with a small bowfin that dad wisely wouldnt let her hold they have a bad mouth full of teeth


and i ended tha day with this fine 6.15 ounce mean as a whip bowfin
