 Shad on the Roanoke!
Had an erran to run in Columbia NC today so I came back through Williamston and stopped by "The Roanoke Sportsman" at the base of the Hwy 17 bridge over the Roanoke. I had heard about the little place but hadn't been there. Nice guys! He has everything you could possibly need for the area and the prices are right! He has even brought Herring in from SC ( because of the net moratorium) for Striper bait. One guy had some HUGE shad in a cooler and said they were blitzing in Windsor fishing from shore right in town. The new ramps in Williamston look very nice with a new walkway for sightseers as well. The town has bought all the property across from the shop to make a waterfront park. River was high and looking good!!!
