Cherokee Kid's Day I read an article in NC Sportsman a few months back about the annual Cherokee Kid's Day on the Ocunaluftee (sp) River. Apparently one weekend in August, the Tribe and Bass Pro Shops sponsor a day of fishing for kids and their parents. They do several stockings throughout the day to ensure the kids are catching. The number I heard was 1000 pounds of trout mostly 1/2 lbers but some 5ers too. There is supposed to be lots of give aways and prizes for the kids.
I couldn't find any info on the event for this year when I did a quick search. Does anybody have any info or a website for it? Depending on how the pregnant wife is doing come August, I'd like to take my 7 year old boy up there. I haven't done any mountain trout fishing since my Dad took me as a little boy. I remember on time when we didn't get anything in the river so we stopped at a trout pound and caught 'em until I was wore out and Dad was nearly broke (paid for the pounds of fish caught).
