Gun Laws.

I was wondering if someone might be able to help me out or point me in a direction so that I can find out. What is the law about carring a Hand gun while you are fishing? I do most of my fishing out of a Yak. So I get to some pretty shallow and covered area's. I hate snakes and fishing from a yak there not a lot of places to go, if a snake happens to fall into your yak. I am no small guy at 6'4" and 270 lbs and there are only two things in life that can make me cry and that is my kid's and snakes. So thanks for your time and help.
