morehead city fishing?

hey guys and gals i was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of fishing to expect when i go down next month. the misses and i are going down the weekend of fathers day and we are going to take the boat out in the sound. what kind of fish will be biting then? where are some good places to go for a newbie and what baits will work best for that area and that time of year? also does anyone know of a good bait shop down there and where i can put my boat in at? sorry for so many questions but im new to this whole thing. i've always pier fished if i ever went there so im excited about being able to take a boat out!!
