My 2007 Year review

2007 was a great year of fishing for me, with many firsts and personal bests. Of course, from where I started going up was pretty much the only direction available!

Firsts:
Hybrid striped bass, 7.25 pounds, Kerr Lake, 11/24 (picture below).
Speckled trout, Oak Island surf fishing, July (picture below).
Black drum, Topsail surf fishing.
Chain pickerel (for whatever that’s worth!).

Personal bests:
Crappie, 1.75 pounds, Kerr Lake, 6/7.
Bass, 3.75 pounds, Kerr Lake, 10/14.
Most keeper crappie (14), Kerr Lake, 11/3 (picture below).
Largest lifetime fish (aforementioned hybrid striped bass).
Catfish, 3.75 pounds, Kerr Lake, 12/27.
Flounder, 15 inches, Topsail surf fishing.

Other notables:
Major improvements to boat set up.
Most days fishing in one year (I think, records are sketchy).
Joined NCAngler website!

The year included two of my most memorable lifetime fishing experiences, the 14 crappie and the hybrid striped bass mentioned above. I learned tons, found many new fishing spots, and became a more confident and better prepared boater. Although the year included many zero fish days, on a few occasions I got lucky and managed to be at the right place at the right time. If there’s one thing I learned it’s that you can’t catch fish sitting at home!
