What a weird place in such a nice place!

I've debated telling this incident b/c I didn't want to bring any shadowy reputation to the hotel, so I won't disclose the name.

Our church group stayed at one of the lower-cost motels there in Morehead, which was actually a decent place for $60 a night.

Anyhow, this past Friday at around 4pm, I had a "neighbor" from a room under ours chatting with me who had apparently been hanging out with Jack and Jim talking about wild turkey.

Anyhow, he notices the church emblem on the side of the church pickup (now THAT's a good church, got a nice GMC pickup!). So I guess he takes me for a pushover (mistake) and tries to talk me into watching his money for him while he goes across the street to the store. $1500!!! And he pulls this roll of money the size of a soda can. I told him ABSOLUTELY NOT!. He persists, I continue to refuse and then I just go into the room.

I have no idea what he was up to.




Well, the next morning at 4am I am loading the church truck with the coolers while the rest of the troop are getting up and checking out of the rooms. We are about to head out on a headboat so I can whip them all at catching fish which I did very well, thank you.

Anyhow, while I'm loading the truck, my 21 year old nephew is on the porch shaking off the sleep, and suddenly we hear a huge glass shattering less than 40 feet from us. I was sure a car was being broken into, this dark and early.

I yelled to Alex to "GET DOWN HERE" and I was heading toward the sound (not exactly sure what my plan was but it was gonna be fun either way). Alex gets there beside me just in time to realize it was a motel window broken from the inside out, and the folks inside were cussing and arguing. I'm not sure which came first, the fight or the window. BTW, this was NOT the guy with the money--- totally different room and group of people.


Anyhow, I call 911 and Alex gets the hotel owner from the desk. Police are there in literally 2 minutes, check it out, and make an arrest for something. I never did find out what was going on nor what broke the window.


All in all, a bizarre way to start a fishing trip!
