Question Cajun Anchor

I did a search and couldn't find anything on these on the site. Anybody use them or a similar product?

I have access to some 1/2 & 3/4 316 Stainless steel pipe and I'm thinking about making one outta the pipe, maybe even pour some lead in pipe. I figured I'd cut one end at a 45 degree angle and flatten the other end, drill a hole and connect a shackle to tie the anchor line to.

I'm also thinking I could use something like that as a drift anchor by just letting it lay flat on the bottom and drag along as I drift in the current. This would just be to keep the boat pointed in roughly the same position as I drifted.

What are y'all's thoughts?
