Default Freshwater reel in Saltwater

I have fished freshwater for years and have freshwater gear. Recently, I moved to the coast and now fish the salt intercoastal water.
How well will my freshwater reel and tackle hold up?
What should I do to take care of it?
Do I need to buy different gear? Suggestions on light tackle?
