Default Penn 230GTO Vs. Penn 330GT

I'm considering choosing between these reels for the occasional use, but when I use them, I use them. It will be used for bottom-bouncing on headboats (I hate using their reels, old line, dull hooks), surf fishing for sharks and possibly for Kings on the pier. Basically an all-purpose med/heavy duty rig.

Both reels hold similar line capacity (300+yds of 30lb mono) but I'll be spooling them with 65-80lb braid. Both are levelwinds with similar gear ratios.

The only difference (other than the 230GTO being $30 cheaper) is that the 330GT seems to be made from beefier or "higher quality" components.

If you have either of these reels, do they cast well if surf fishing (when coupled with the appropriate 7' or longer rod)?

I want a reel that I can trust not to fall apart but at the same time don't want to spend extra cash on something that's overqualified for what I'll be using it for 5 or less times a year.

Thanks,

Matt
