| I set out for Shearon Harris yesterday afternoon with a friend of mine who was taking a break from training with the Army at Fort Eustis. We had planned to target Bass and found a good bite on Texas rigged worms around deep points on the lake. We started out with Watermelon seed Zoom worms fishing the coves from the opening into the main lake where we had plenty of bites. The back of the coves where to warm around 86 degrees so all of our bites occurred never the front of the coves. I managed to pull a 4lb LM on the Zoom worms. I have had great confidence in the Zoom Trick worms and it's hard to change to other baits particularly when it's working. However, I had a bag of Watermelon colored Gulp worms and decided give a try. Immediately, started getting hits on the first cast and picked up a few Bass from the rest of the afternoon but the real surprise was when I threw near a log and had a hard tug on the line. The thought of a huge Bass quickly subsided when I realized that the fish wanted to stay near the bottom. Anyway, it ended up being a 6lb Channel Cat and a little later I landed another Cat at about 3lbs. I've caught Cats on Jigs, Crank baits and Clouser Minnows but this was the first on an artificial worm. Not to mention catching two in one trip. ![]() ![]()
