OOOOHHH, so that's what those funny looking flat back jig heads in my big tackle box must be for! Rig them with a small senko maybe, or something with a curly tail?

I learned about the Ned rig from Rodney aka finnstalker. First time using it on the New River a 25" rainbow trout decided it was something it liked too. I haven't turned back using it. Its the avatar picture I use on my posts. The Ned rig catches fish but you do donate a few jigs since the hook is exposed.

For best results I understand buying the Z Man elastic Ned's work the best....but it's a new rig to me as well. I did catch a few fish on the rig in the frigid cold last month...on the same stretch of water as the M&G float is on.

SUPPOSEDLY... the zman's float better than the Senko's, so they stand up better. I would think any floating worm would work fairly well in that situation though.

Z-Man makes the TRD specifically for the Ned Rig. Difference is no salt so it floats and stands up on the bottom.

My time off was approved! I'll have to work on getting a site, but I'll be there even if I have to stay at my dad's place in Boone.

You still have room on your site? My leave just got approved and it appears all the other tent sites are spoken for.

EDIT: I'm taken care of. No surprise really another Red X'r reached out and offered to share their site within minutes of me posting this. What a great group.

I'll be posting some pictures of past events, occasionally you will see some of our dear friends who are no longer with us, fond memories and part of the reason they are missed.

Yes sir! Still never ceases to amaze me how the Red X guys help each other out and welcome new guys like me like we're family. Big thanks to John for sharing his site with me! Can't wait for this trip, one of the few I haven't been to.

Hmmmmm.... active duty elite soldier with multiple tours to nasty desert places needs a place to stay... I think enough of us appreciate your service that you weren't going to have a lot of problems finding a good campsite

Plus... you are a master of cast iron cookery! Nothing but positives there!

Thanks Len. To be honest, if I had to sleep on the ground in the rain, it wouldn't be the worst night of sleep I've ever had, but I do appreciate the group's hospitality all the same.
