Was fortunate enough to meet those 3 guys and camp with them awhile, eat some great food thx to Chef H2Ohhh, and only caught 2 fish---a nice trout and a feisty redfish both 16", and both on a float rig (a Bomber lemon shaped one) and a VooDoo soft plastic shrimp with a clear body and a chartreuse tail.

Could not get everything to the Orange Island Homestead Campsite on one trip in my brand new W/S Tarpon 120, so after fishing a little on the way I had to run back to where the trucks were parked to pick up the second 1/2 of my gear, and I GOT LOST !!!
Made it back just before dusk and by the time I had the second half of my gear it was after 6 PM...and had gotten DARK, and the entrance gate is locked and I was STUCK!! He showed up and waited for to pack the kayak and then follow him to the gate....he did know a CHEAP place 1 mile outside the park, and she only charged me $25 for a tiny but clean mini-room!!

Sunday, I went back over to the camp, and unpacked, ate a GREAT lunch and fished for about 3 hours and caught those 2 fish, and enjoyed H2Ohhh's fine supper of FRESH TROUT NUGGEST....YAMMY.
Monday, the NC Guys packed and left for their LONG ride home, and then I packed and headed back to the launch about 10 AM and by then, those NE winds had risen to 15-18 MPH with higher gusts and blowing against the tides, so there were Standing Wave that actually white-capped...and got lost trying to find a sheltered route, but made it back....I am a TIRED PUPPY today!!
Loved every crazy minute of it tho!

Looks like a heck of a trip. Nice job making it happen. Those kayaks were loaded down.

Just looking at the Announcement Post for this trip, and "Twentythree" said on 1/13/17 about "not forgetting the MR-17"ad wanted to tell him that he was a Prophet!!
The MR-17 in the Electric Chicken color was the killer lure for the trip...especially with Dennis and Mark pitching them!!!

Hi there... I re-registered. Was bluefishinny on here. I live just south of Tampa in Sarasota. My advice. I would go armed with soft plastics in browns/greens/blacks etc. All around best baits for me are paddle tail grubs. A day like today (Feb 16 Thurs) - we had a front roll through last night.... Topwater baits will probably go ignored while a crustacean imitation would get smacked! If you go out late afternoon when the sun heats things up... Topwaters may work! Regardless - this time of year you think low and slow. This exact bait has caught more fish for me this time of year than any bait out there:

Ted, its hard for me to justify buying a yak with 2 power boats but if I ever to decide to buy a yak it will definitely be the Nucanoe Frontier.

I know where you are coming from. I have 3 kayaks and would like a flats boat but like you can't justify getting one.
