    Default Mountain Island Park/Dam fishing

Hit up the Mountain Island Dam at the hwy 273 entrance so really tail of Catawba River. Haven't fished here in years but was looking for a nice morning bank fishing close by the house. Read alot of reviews on here saying not much fish especially bass here but we hit em pretty good this morning. Walked the nice gravel trail at Mtn Island Park and fished two spots. Got there at 7am with no bites or anything. Low and behold from around 10am-1230 pm catfish were hitting hard. Pulled out eight 2-4lb catfish mostly on chicken livers and minnows within an hour, cats hitting as soon as bait hitting the water. After no luck with some frog and other topwater lures, snagged 3 bass on rooster tails right around the rocks, maybe 10 yards from the bank. Surprised and happy with the fishing today.

Default Looking for advice/tips on fishing Mountain Island Lake

Did some bank fishing at Mtn Island Park below the dam so really the Catawba River this morning. Nice gravel trail with lots of access for some bank fishing. Picked up eight 2-4lb cats and 3 bass in span of about 2 hours. I haven't ever actually fished Mtn Island Lake but putting in at the Hwy 16 dock on Tuesday with little trolling boat to try out the lake. Looking for bass and cats, any advice would be appreciated

Nice job on the fish. I merged your two reports into one here since they were very similar.
