    Default Weldon fishing report

Went to Weldon today, we got on the water around 8:30 and fished to around 2:30 this afternoon. The water was on average 20ft deep from the boat ramp down stream and the water temp was 60. We got 20 stripers in the slot and kept the largest 4 (2 fisherman) The largest one I caught was 20.5, we didn't catch any in the over size group. We actually only caught about 3 that were less than 18. We used live minnows and drifted starting around the treatment plant for the next 2 miles or so. I used a drop weight that I let drag along the bottom with about a 2 ft leader trailing the bait. All in all it was a beautiful day and not a lot of boaters on the water. I did throw out a salty silver colored fluke lure that got a couple of hits but no catches. I wanted to use the fly rod but with the depth thought it would be better to fish the bottom.
