Simplicity at its finest. Durable hammered finish (in slver or gold) catches the light from every angle and simulates "baitfish like" reflection. Many sizes and styles available with and without skirts ( I prefer the white or chartruese skirt)... If I had only one kind of lure in my box this would be it. Blues and Spanish love them. Crappie,Panfish,Bass,Walleye as well. I like to cast the 3/4-1 oz in the surf or from a pier and work it with a fast/medium "jerky" retrieve, pausing briefly to allow bait to fall a bit and tempt followers. Most strikes hit on the fall of each jerk like a jig.
In freshwater the 1/8-1/4 oz bounced around rockpiles or vertical jigged over semi deep "clearish" water Crappie or Smallmouths drives them crazy. Not good for cover because the have no protection against snagging. I have swapped the trebble for the wire hook so that they will bend if snagged but you risk losing larger fish.
Tip them with shrimp bits or Gulp remnants to leave a scent trail. They last forever and even though the skirt will eventually deteriorate they keep catching fish. I have a 1 oz I know has to be 25 yrs old. I just replace the split ring and hook once in awhile..now that's getting your moneys worth!
