Description: Mann`s Bait Gigantus 50+ (G-50+) sets a new depth standard for bluewater fishing lures. It has no equal in being able to reach over 50+ feet depths. The floating, diving Mann's G-50+ also incorporates a thru-body wire to support its hooks and prevent fish loss due to "bite-offs". With its extra thick walls and steel leaders, everything about the Mann's G-50+ makes it the top choice for deep bluewater trolling.

Manns Bait Company, started by Tom Mann in 1956, ranks as one of the largest producers of fishing lures in the world. One of the most diversified lure maker in the U.S., Mann manufactures hard baits (crankbaits), soft plastics, spinnerbaits, lead lures and hollow body baits. Fishermen throughout the United States and in over 50 countries around the globe swear by Mann baits. The easily recognizable Indian head logo carries a reputation unparalleled in the industry for high quality and superior performance. The 100 percent American made products are produced in Eufaula, Alabama.

HOW TO FISH

FACTORY RIGGED

The G50+™ comes rigged with two #7982 Mustad 10/0 hooks and a Sevenstrand® 600# steel leader attached to a stainless steel stamping. The stamping fits in the underlip slot and is allowed to move side to side. This movement makes the lure self-centering and provides true running at speeds up to 10 mph. For most species such as grouper, wahoo, cobia, kingfish and sailfish this setup is the most popular and easiest to use. With this setup, a lure trolled at 4 mph on IGFA rated 60 lb. test line with 200 feet of line out, will reach 60 feet. On IGFA rated 80 lb. test line, the lure will reach 50 feet. Remember, slow speeds and smaller or longer line increases lure depth while fast speeds and larger or shorter line decreases depths.

MONSTER OPTION

When going after monster fish such as large Tuna or Marlin, remove the double hooks and build a harness using your choice of cable and single hook(s). We recommend minimum 600 lb cable and 12/0 hooks.

Attach the harness to the hole in the bottom of the steel plate in the lip with the proper thimble, and use a rubber band or a twist tie to hold the cable against the body of the lure. Both hooks must swing freely. Position the rubber band(s) between the restrainers located behind the eyes. When the fish strikes, the rubber band(s) will break. This will allow direct contact with the fish while the lure slides up the line as the fish struggles.

This "Monster Option" will allow the lure to run true at speeds up to 10 knots and provide the hardware necessary to handle huge fish.

Pros: it floats, it does dive deep, good makerel and bonita colors, robust lure
Cons: Do not like the leaders that come with them (we've had 4 of them fray on us and break), Tuna hooks have got to go they're the weakest part on the lure, hard to store (big awkward diving plug)

Definately not my first choice or "go to" lure. yes they dive, but it's a plug that's probably a little too big for most applications. I feel the Mann's 40 and even 30's are better all around.

Need a big rod with alot of drag to hold this lure down... the lure lip is so huge it takes quite a bit of drag to keep line from peelin off... so if somethin actually does hit the lure... strikes are hard to tell... very easy to pull a hook with this lure, even in the monster configuration.

The trolling leaders/harnesses that come with this lure flat suck and Mann's has the "oh well" approach when I contacted them to let them know we physically lost 3 of the lure bodies due to leader fraying 4-5 inches up from the diving plugs lip, we got lucky and recovered one lure body.

As a teaser, I think this is what this lure would serve best as... A 16 inch hard bait diving plug... just too many other good options out there.
I say retire this plug Mann's or sell them as a novelty lure.

My opinion, save your $70 and use it on lures that work like Calcutta, Black Bart, Carolina Lures, etc...
