May 2007: I've mentioned before, one of my tackle-buying strategies is to work my way up from the least expensive choices, trying to find the lowest cost items that don't disappoint me. This one hasn't disappointed me yet. The first thing I learned that I like in a reel is a tight anti-reverse, and this one's very nice in that department.
May 2008: I'm still satisfied with this combo, but I'm more pleased with the Pfleuger Gold Medalist reel I picked up in the same price range. The Abu's anti-reverse isn't quite as tight, and the retrieve is not as smooth as the Pfleuger's. See my other review for that reel.
