Pros: 5 watt capable, water resistant, back lit buttons, rechargable battery, robust casing
Cons: none to think of

Great hand held VHF for ditch bag, back-up to main VHF, or for simple small craft/boat safety communication.

From my use, and I excercise my 250 (used as a back-up and kept in the ditch bag) and it's reception is clear and tranmission is clear as well. Good output for a handheld.

As with anything with batteries.. good to pack a spare set of alkaline batt's as back up. The radio comes with a chargable battery and charger, but also comes with an extra battery case that uses 6 AA batteries! that's a great option for a radio normally sells for about $100.

The Uniden 250 is a good unit that works!
