I say this was the best weekend for us because of the company, my dad. I get to fish with him from time to time but it is usually bank fishing and it isn't for very long. He doesn't get around as well as he used to so since I've had access to a bigger boat I had been bugging him to join us. We met him at the boat ramp at 10 AM and found a decent spot by 10:15 and lines went in. Not even 5 minutes and the old man hooks up on a solid 18" striper, his first in over 20 years. We proceeded to bring in about 16 fish and keeping 5. Fish were caught using "popcorn herring" purchased at the Roanoke Sportsman in Williamston. Made it out before the rain around 3:30 and went home and cleaned our catch. My mom said he talked about the trip the entire way home and even after they got home. Definitely going to be one of my favorite fishing memories with my dad and can't wait to get him on the boat again.
