Weapon of choice today was my Steffen 8' 3/4. I love this rod. I just does so many things well.

Second cast yielded this guy. A fine specimen for such a small stream. One of the biggest wild brookies I've caught. He came off the bottom of a 3-4' plunge pool to hammer a size 12 stimmy.

My wife has always loved being on the river. I'm trying to make an angler out of her, but for now she's content to just be a photographer. I don't mind that one bit.

We also saw three different species of salamander. But this one was the coolest.

I'm always so thankful to be on the water, but today was certainly special in its own right. Several native brookies brought to hand, my wife at my side, throwing flies I tied on a rod I built. Doesn't get much better than that.

Thanks for looking.
