However, we planned our day to attend Mass Saturday night so I could get out first thing Sunday a.m.. My son saw the pics of last weekend and it was his turn. I think he was as excited as I was.

We got a late start, not leaving G'ville until 5:30, and got to the ramp about 7 a.m.. The wind was already pretty strong for that hour of the morning and I knew it would be a wet ride in. Undaunted, we headed out, going west from the ramp instead of east like I had the weekend before.

At the first stop, my son had a fish on almost immediately, but lost it before we even saw it. A few minutes later, he hooked up again and the first flounder was in the boat. There is something enjoyable when your 9 year old son begins talking trash before 8:00 in the morning. Pressure was on, but I answered him with the second fish of the day a few minutes after that. I hooked up again, but lost the fish right at the boat. He was VERY clear that it had to be IN the boat to count, and then managed to boat his second fish shortly thereafter with a rather smug grin on his face. Although they were all short, we were off to a great start . . . and then it slowed down. We spent the next hour or two with only a few bites and a fish he lost near the boat. That, of course, didn't count . . . . .

With the score 2-1, I found another flounder at a new spot, and then my son hooked up on a solid fish. Definitely a keeper, and he lit up like a Christmas tree when we measured it. 17 inches meant he had just provided dinner for the family.

We ended the day with 6 fish in the boat, one of which was a keeper. We lost four others right at boat side, one of those being a definite keeper. We were off the water by 12:30, and both wore big,, tired smiles all the way home.
