Slow day overall, caught 5 bass over 8 hours. I did get lucky with the 2nd one being a 6lb 2oz hoss. Hit a weightless white trick worm up near a fallen pine tree in just a few feet of water. The rest of the fish were mostly off wood cover or rock; baits were the weightless worm (2), creature bait on a shakey head (2), and one on an xrap.

The bowfin was the biggest I have ever caught; I didn't measure it, but holding it against the 18inch hashmark on my gunwhale, it was easily 23 inches if not 24. I wanted it out of my boat so I didn't bother looking for my ruler. It hit the creature bait on the shakey head near a fallen tree, in a very bassy looking spot. I was happy to bend the rod and disappointed to discover it wasn't a bass.

Surface temps: 81-82 degrees
Wind light out of the North but enough to ripple the water
Skies clear with only a stray cloud

Surface activity was starting to pick up as I was leaving.
