That sounds like an outstanding plan. Exactly the kind of fishing I've been talking to my wife about learning to do - both not-too-far out trolling and the same for bottom fishing on wrecks/reefs. Maybe the seas will let us out there. I've been trying to work learning and doing this into my life for years - about 2 decades I think. So, ditto on getting excited.

Still working on my skiff. Life has thrown several delays into the completion of that. Lookin' at mid-late Oct before it'll be minimally ready - will still have another few weeks work to do to make it maximally ready.

I've been gearing up for my trip out with my church friend this weekend. Don't know what Igor is gonna do to us. Reports say the seas are gonna be rough.

Bottom rig - is that the two-hook pre-made verticle presentation rig I see in the tackle shops - they cost about $1.00 apiece? I'll pick up 5 or so. Recommendation on weight sizes to get while there?

Good! we are excited! Sept 25, we can fish for spots, didn't find them with the boat last year, but the miss is a big pier fisher!! I will ask around & and see what's best to fish for that day. Oct 16 will be a great day! Oct 23 will see what's biting then.

I'd love to come on down for Sept 25. Would that be a trip to go after spot for the big fry? Mrs. Rod is not available that day, but she is for the 16th, and would like to enjoy the SpotFry. We've marked our calendars for those days.

Oct. 23 is open for us as well. Let's get a feel for how things are going, and see what develops for that day.

Thanks much. I could probably make good use of some counsel concerning tackle (rods/reels/rigs) to bring.

Thanks, you right, striper fishing has been something that i wanted to do for a while now, but going somewhere that I hadn't been before is something I don't do alone. Sept 25 looks good for me Oct 16 is the big spot fish fry weekend, you're more than welcome to come to that but fishing would be limited. Oct 23 is open.

Great! Look forward to hearing from you.

I've got a feelin' that you're not concerned about the following - you seem to be the kind of guy that would not be - but it's important to me that I confirm to you, that I have not forgotten about reciprocating trip(s). Our whole conversation began with a hope to make a trip up to the Roanoke for the Spring Striper run. I still have that on my agenda. I'm lookin' at a time frame around (or in) the first week of May. A weekday or two to boot. Not a weekend - that's too crowded up there. Just wanted you to know I haven't forgotten, and am committed.

I have to take Sept 18 off the list. Only a few hours after I posted the message, a fishin' friend from Church called and invited me to go out with him that day.

Here's hoping some of the other days can work out for us.

Thank you for your patience with me and my schedule. Some days look good for me:
    Sept 18, 25
    Oct 16, 23
I sure would love to go as soon as can be worked out. Are you interested in a trip for any of these days? While 4 days are listed, I can only go out on any 2 of them. Hopefully some will work out for you...and the Hurricanes will stay away.

OK - it does sound like a good time - we'll keep trying.
I have to work out-of-town from Oct. 1 -10 - then work back here in town the normal 5 days of the following work week (11-15). I'll sure be ready for a break after that.

Some of the busy I've been has involved getting my 'skiff' ready as well. Have spent 6-8 weeks upgrading, modifying, enhancing, performance and components - including the trailer, which has taken most of the work. I've got another week or two to go on this project, then sometime after that we'll be hittin' the water.
Stayin' in touch will happen. Thanks, Rod

Believe it or not, I haven't forgotten you. My life this Spring and Summer has turned unexpectedly toward Busy, and I don't foresee much let up for Fall - at least until after Oct. 10. I look regularly for a time to get down there, but alas nothing manifests itself.

I'm a little hopeful about the last two weekends in Sept - and a little less hopeful about the last weekend of this month and Labor Day weekend. Cathy and I are looking at schedules/commitments. I don't want to seem expectant - I realize you might already have plans, but I'd like to stay in touch and try to work out some trips. Your pond and some saltwater fishing sound great - and I percieve we'll get along well based on communications thus far.

If you don't mind, I'll be in touch again.

The girls have gone, and I just returned from being away for 2 weeks of work.
    How's the fishin'?
Cathy and I are going to hit our favorite spot this afternoon after work if the heat lets up around 6 p.m. I hope it does. Having been away for 2 weeks - I need a fix.

I just got a chance to get back to the site and check messages - been very busy in the pursuit of life. Thanks for the update and keeping in touch.
Hope your trip last Sat went well, and that the SUN was FUN.
I'm an ultralight lovin' guy - as is my fishin' buddy, but I'm not sure I've ever used crickets.
No kids - that are around. Son and daughter are 26 & 29, married, and live kinda far away. The girls who are moving away soon (sometime in June, ages 8 & 10) are the only young'uns in our lives. They looooove to fish.
It'll probably be after the girls leave before we can get down there. BTW, my wife loves to fish too - trolling small crankbaits, spinners, and jigs is her favorite. She's an ultralite-ist too.
