Had around ten or twelve folks show up, a couple even made it up from 2 hours east of here. Bass were biting off and on, and most caught fish. Joey and I managed 8, including 5 that went 15-16 inches. Another pair of guys got 9 fish, another 5, and on down the line!
I had a miss fire on a good one. (always, always check your drag, dummy!) Joey and I each had a fish that was exactly 16 inches long, but his was heavier. (see pic)
It was great to see everyone, really appreciated you all coming up to my home lake. Sorry no real big fish were caught, but several decent fish were, I know Calvin had a pretty one. Most of the ones we caught and or saw looked like footballs, they were so fat!
Hopefully, we can do this every year. Several asked about the TAKTF Clinic, so maybe we'll have more help next year.
All in all, was a fun day, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and was good putting a face to the names we see online each day.
Thanks as always to Guffey for helping organize the event.

Thanks again to the HPCL for letting us in early!
I had a good time despite the slow fish catching rate. Didn't get a pic of the other dink or the decent crappie, but I did get a pic of THIS monster. (Gut hooked but I was able to remove hook and manage her back to livelihood)
I fished HPCL a couple times in mid winter temps in the upper 30 degree mark but did not have much success. But anytime you feel the need to go let me know I'm all in on a trip.
Thanks for putting it together Condry and Guffey, I enjoy traveling and chkn out new places. It was good meeting everyone, and I look forward to next time.. And hats off to Rod for letting me jump aboard your boat with you, I enjoyed fishing from your pontoon setup, first class all the way.
You're not gonna have too much success in winter anywhere unless you go to a lake like Belews, which has warm water discharge from power plants. That being said, back in 2005, I got two six pound fish two weeks before Christmas on a Carolina rig out there at HPCL. Got an eight pounder on a Pointer in late January 2007.
Just transferred to NCangler website from another fishing chat site. I'm in the Greensboro/Mcleansville area been to Oak Hollow once but never HPCL. Would have liked to made this event but don't believe I can launch my Stratos there, to big a motor. Anyway having a small issue with it so will have to meet up at a later date. Looks like everyone had a great time.
Good to read that. I read in the lake regulations there is a motors size limit. My motor is a 175 hp and I thought I wouldn't make it to HPCL. I might have to go over there and see what I can find then.
