    Default Fall Is Coming!!

Ok so last year in mid October the trout turned on in the Topsail area. Lots of small fish the year before and then last they showed up not only in good numbers but big fish as well. Plenty of fish in the 20-22" range.

So the question is why? Why such a great year? Did Mathew push these fish in on Oct.8? Or would they have been here without Mathew. Anybody have any thoughts?

My thought would be the Big Storms do flush out the areas around here providing better breeding. That is why the Northern Coastal region has better fish as the water does get moved around better. That is my guess.

I agree, MB. I find that my best days are after the wind pounds from a direction for several days and switches a 180. That is why, even though I just got home this morning, I'm probably heading back to Pamlico after a 9:30 doctor appointment in Wilmington. Prediction; Thurs good, Friday great.

I can't help with any technical questions but the Topsail area has had more rain in recent weeks (months?) than I can ever recall and the current in the creeks are flowing out when the tide is coming in after a rain. The ground is soaked. I don't know if all this fresh water helps or hurts.
