They do have some different rules down there but I can deal with them or work around them. Noticed they have a rule no organized group camping, no problem there as Iím just camping with my extended family on a spur of the moment decision.

Possibly since I was thinking of hiring a contractor to create me a island on some reef to build a cabana bar and winter home. I hear it is all the rage in China.

Bring your credentials in Island building and we can talk.

It is impossible to have a less organized group than the Red X. No posting about "no gathering of friends"?

Yeah your right Len, no more posting about a trip down to where the temps are warm and fishing in shorts and tee shirt.

Oh, you have me about ready to move there right now... But we aren't an organized group by their definition.

    They have rules in Florida?

Mosquito Lagoon is just over 500 Mile's from my home outside of Concord. They have larger campsites for groups than the one we stay on (Orange Island). Zero amenities though...you have to paddle to get to any. No booze restrictions. You have to pack your trash out. Pretty hardcore but spectacular nonetheless.

Post up a link John, people might have a lot more interest in doing the Lagoon.

I'm thinking not Ted. Primitive camping is not for everyone. I like your location for a meet. It's a very long distance though. Working folks need a day off after coming home just to recuperate and put up gear.

Yep. ~700 miles is a haul. But...The further south the warmer it is. How long did it take you Ted, one way? Both areas look awesome.

10 hours 15 minuets doing 3 to 5 over speed limit. Stopped 1 time for gas and 2 rest area stops for the plumbing. I left the house at 3:50 am and arrived a little after 2:00 pm, no real traffic to speak of until I got on interstate 75 down by Ocala Florida.

The mileage could have been worse, I was looking at Marathon or Big Pine Key as a road trip.

Mosquito was 7-8 hours. There were some abnormal cold fronts a few weeks earlier but the temp was mid 70's every day. In January. No matter where you go in Florida in the winter the wind is more likely to mess you up than the temperature. While there are Lee areas to escape it you still have to paddle to them.
