Looked up the average temps and rain in Tampa. Like John said the wind is the big factor but we have dealt with it at Bay River. Just remember to bring a good anchor with your stick pin as backup.

The problem with wind is it builds waves.

I can't relax to fish in swells of a foot or more. And I do not enjoy paddling with waves breaking over the bow... I can do it, but it is not my idea of fun or safe.

If you made the trip and the waves were too high for your comfort that would be bad after driving that far. The only options for fishing would be the Gulf pier and that would suck after hauling your kayak down there specifically to kayak fish.

Yep. More likely to sit at home then. Most likely will have to be satisfied with your reports

Really hate for you to sit this one out Len. If you decide to chance it and the waves are not to your liking I will be glad to do some pier fishing or wade fishing with you.

Florida trip is now behind us and the return to wet and cold weather is a bummer. Bob posted up a report under saltwater fishing.

Im going back in May but just for 3 days. Im definitely going to try the area Bob caught his nice snook to see if more might be lurking there. Was really nice having you and Bob make the trip.

Not sure where Bob caught that beauty but docks are good target areas for snook. Mangroves too.

Caught him right up next to the mangroves on a point. I attempted to video myself bring him to the yak.

Epic! Great job getting him out of the mangroves. He took you for a drag screaming ride and the, like a bullet. Charged the yak and went under...trying to get back to the mangroves.

Even though it was not very primitive you would have liked all the different fishing opportunities available down there John. The only place I have found that offers mangroves, surf, channel and bay fishing in one area.
