Can't identify it. Don't know my freshwater species well. Looks a spot minus the spots.

Where was it caught? Looks like a smallmouth bass to me.

Riverbend Park. I thought of that, but the pictures I saw they all had reddish eyes and I was thinking that was more Lake James fishery. I'm going with smallmouth then and that way I can add that to my list. Yes I caught a small!

3 to 2 Uhmm... Jawbone positioning seems to be the main factor for determining. Maybe I'll catch another this week with a better pic to settle it and one thing for sure my dog wanted it!

Largemouth. Looks like the jaw extends past the eye.

I still vote for smallmouth, Jaw seems to go to about even with eye but not beyond, also dorsal fin does not seem to have a complete break between first and second half as is characteristic for LM. i agree it does seem to have more of the color of the LM but as we all know that is in part determined by environment. Interesting thread.

Alabama bass. I've never seen a largemouth with such prominent lines on the belly.

Alabama bass (aka spotted bass). No tiger stripes like smallie has, mouth goes to center of eye not beyond as in largemouth. Also, dorsal fin is plainly connected. It's a Bama bass no doubt.
